About Mantle
Our Story
Mantle was founded in February 2019 by Simon Crow, the developer, and Joe Newton, the marketer. Starting life as Maple Tree Web Design, Simon and Joe originally set up the limited company to make some extra money part time alongside their employed roles. In its infancy the business focussed on building websites, offering marketing support, and producing small scope software projects.
However, as time went on they quickly realised that their practical, hands on, and engaged approach offered a refreshing change for clients. Like all agencies they would start with a brief and desired outcome, but unlike other agencies they took the time to understand how the business worked, how their employees would engage with the system, and what their plans looked like to understand if the system needed future proofing in any way, digging into the clients business to understand how they could most effectively support them with comprehensive and user friendly solutions.
This approach allowed them to retain clients over long periods of time as they supported with ad-hoc work and took on additional projects, and through positive word of mouth the number of clients they were supporting grew quickly, leading to Maple Tree becoming a full time endeavour for Simon in 2022.
Since then the business has continued to grow, supporting more clients across a wider range of sectors and taking on bigger and more complex projects. This led to our rebranding in March 2025, taking on our new name of Mantle Development - A name that we felt better reflected the foundationally important role we were playing in many of our clients businesses, providing a service that was often at the core of how they were able to run effectively and stay competitive as a business.

Mantle Development are specialists in software & website development, IT & dev ops, and process improvement. Since our foundation we have supported 100s of clients across numerous sectors with our unique approach to development, combining technical ability, quality communication with clients & colleagues, and a focus on being forward thinking to implement long lasting solutions that properly support our clients.
We have implemented a variety of solutions for clients, including customer facing website integrations in the home improvements industry, internal CRMs for manufacturers, product management systems for businesses in finance, and many more. We believe that no project is too big or too complex.
